In years to come, the Philippines can offer many great opportunities to both domestic and international investors. The Philippines is one of today’s fastest growing countries in Asia-Pacific region, posting a 6.9% GDP growth rate for Q1 of 2016 – a solid proof of its remarkable economic performance. The Philippines is expected to have the fastest GDP growth among the five biggest economies of ASEAN in 2016, according to International Monetary Fund (IMF). Philippines’ GDP is also projected to trend around USD 398.97B in 2020, according to econometric models. It is a huge archipelago with a population of over 90M. The water market in the Philippines has become larger and more attractive, 85% of the country’s water demand is for agriculture, with industry and the domestic sector sharing the remainder. According to the Global Water Intelligence Report, the capital expenditure on water and wastewater infrastructure is expected to see a healthy CAGR of 7.7% until 2018 – reaching $690 million compared with $140 million in 2011. The government has made public-private partnerships an important part of their economic strategy for achieving improved wastewater coverage, opening up huge opportunities for foreign companies.
